Dr Dion has been involved in the sport, health and fitness industry for over 30 years starting his career out in the USA as a physical educator, sport coach and massage therapist. He migrated to Australia in 1994 where he was in charge of the Sports Administration program at the University of Canberra where he had the opportunity to teach at the Hong Kong Sports Institute and to the executives of the Oceanic National Olympic Committee in the lead up to the 2000 Olympic Games.  While in Canberra he also owned a gym and massage clinic and a corporate health consultancy which won an Innovation Award for the Corporate Health and Fitness Challenge.

Being passionate about training and education, Dion launched The WISE Academy in 2007, a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) catering to the business and wellness sectors. The company grew quickly and was successful in being awarded the CanberraBusinessPoint Business Plan Award 2009 and was a Finalist for the Sales Growth Award 2009.

Since moving to the Gold Coast in 2010, Dion acquired iPledg, a reward-based crowdfunding platform and started another online business, Training and Assessment Materials, where he writes and sells resources to other RTOs.

He has served on numerous ACT and National boards and committees relating to health, education, fitness and sport as well as the ACT Minister’s Advisory Council for Sport and Recreation. He was accepted to the Honour Roll of Fitness Australia in 2012 for his contribution to the Australian Fitness industry.  He was also a committee member of the Australia-India Business Council, board member of the Australian Association of Angel Investors, and the IT Forum Gold Coast (two years as President).

He volunteers his time in the Queensland government’s Mentoring For Growth program and is currently a senior lecturer at Kaplan Business School-Brisbane.
