A Taste of Harmony 2022

  • March 1st, 2022 at 12:58 pm

Australia is one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world. We come from more than 200 countries and speak 300 languages as well as over 100 Australian Indigenous languages. One in five Australians speak a language other than English at home, and one in five of us has at least one parent born overseas.

With so many different cultures in Australia, how can we make sure we are being inclusive in the workplace?

What is A Taste of Harmony?

Running from March 14 to March 25, A Taste of Harmony is an event where businesses are encouraged to register and then organise an activity that lets people communicate and celebrate their cultural backgrounds in the workplace.

A Taste of Harmony is celebrating its 14th anniversary this year, with a total of 30,000 workplaces in Australia and abroad having participated since 2009!

Get involved! Share a good old fashioned lunch with work colleagues, take your team out and support your local restaurants & cafes, or join the virtual event and cook along whilst working from home. There are plenty of ways you can join A Taste of Harmony in 2022!

How can I get involved?

  • Hosting an event in person or virtually with your team
  • Create a company or team cookbook with much loved recipe from your team
  • Provide opportunities for team members to share stories about their heritage
  • Support your local restaurants and cafes and explore the different cultures in your local area
  • Utilise the ATOH discussion guides to have a conversation around cultural diversity

What’s on the table for A Taste of Harmony 14 – 25 March 2022:

  • Much-loved and talented Australian chef Kylie Kwong has joined as a campaign ambassador and will be sharing her tips on the secrets of Chinese cooking, why she believes it is so important to celebrate cultural diversity in the workplace and providing details for a delicious recipe to try at home!
  • Comedian Nazeem Hussain is back! This year he will be cooking with MasterChef judge and Scottish chef Jock Zonfrillo in a live Facebook event. Together they will be tackling a unique lunch recipe and will no doubt offer many laughs. You don’t want to miss this one. Sign-up today.
  • Our cookbook is back! For those who are unable to get together for the traditional ATOH lunch you can instead set-up a new and improved cookbook template for all members of the team to share their favourite recipes and create a memorable keepsake for your team.
  • Who doesn’t love a quiz? Especially when it means beating out your work colleagues. We have developed two new quizzes including an advanced one for those who want to be really challenged…
  • Finally, for those returning to the office, now might be the time to get together with your team in person! Share delicious food, talk to new and old colleagues and celebrate the wonderful diversity of your workplace. We understand there will be some caution with workplace events so we have prepared tips on how to host a covid-safe event here.

What are you waiting for? Register now and celebrate cultural diversity at your workplace this March.
