The Small Business Summit will address the impact of penalty rates and IR issues on SME’s. It will be an opportunity for small business owners and operators to attend an event where they can not only learn some practical information from the range of expert speakers and mix with industry leaders, Union and Government representatives, but they can also contribute to the formation of the Small Business Charter of Australia.
The format of the Small Business Summit is arranged so that the attendees are invited to bring their issues and ideas to the forum so that they can be included in a Charter that can be built on to set the base for future endeavours and negotiations carried out by Small Business Association of Australia on behalf of its members.
One of the key components of this Summit will be the focus on Industrial Relations issues and their impact on small business.
These discussions will be led by Leigh Bernhardt who is a highly skilled and qualified HR/IR practitioner with many years of Corporate and private industry experience who has represented companies in National Wage Cases and in industry and enterprise bargaining matters for the Oil, Transport, Telecommunications, Tertiary Education and Local Government Industries.
The goals of the Industrial Relations component of the Small Business Summit will be to share ideas and issues with the attendees and to promote discussion and informed debate on realistic and achievable items for inclusion into the Small Business Charter.
There has been a lot of discussion and debate on the recent Fair Work Commission penalty rates decision but very little constructive debate between all of the small business stakeholders concerning the big picture issues on what type of specific industrial reform and legislative changes are required to meet the challenges of business owners in the electronic age and the 21st Century with its ever changing business environment.
Attendees at the Summit will have the opportunity to formulate practical plans and strategies for the future relative to their business needs and IR structures. For more information click here.
