The African Professionals of Australia (APA) in partnership with Queensland University of Technology is pleased to introduce its flagship event – Succeeding Beyond Borders Conference 2022. This conference has previously been held bi-annually in Perth Western Australia to coincide with the Africa Down Under Conference. This year the conference is coming to Queensland and Brisbane.

This is a 2-day conference designed specifically for the empowerment of the African Professional.

African Professionals of Australia Ltd (APA) is one of the leading not-for-profit organizations, in Australia with active chapters in Western Australia, New South Wales, Victoria, Australian Capital Territory, and Queensland. The aim of APA is to employ the organization’s platform as well as its partners, to pursue and achieve continued professional relevance and impact amongst its members especially those of African origin.

Since its establishment the organization has been advancing the growth of professionals of African origin and empowering them to reach their full potential in their chosen field.

The conference provides the only opportunity for culturally supportive mentorship to support the advancement of the African in the diaspora living in Australia. This conference could not have come at a better time to address and provide innovative ways conducting business and staying employed as an “Intrapreneur” in a post COVID work climate.

The conference will discuss potential partnerships and innovations in five key areas.

  • Renewable energy/ Mining: Unlocking the power of innovation: key lessons from industry experts
  • Agriculture: Unlocking Australia and Africa’s Health and Agricultural Sectors; the role of Africans in the diaspora
  • Women in leadership: Perspectives from Australian and African Women Entrepreneurs, Business Owners, and Leaders.

As a professional development organization, the role of APA is expose its members and provide them support they need to connect with systems, organizations and opportunities that advance their professional development. This is one very important conference for every African Professional.

The then Australian Prime Minister the Honorable Julia Gillard, Prime Minister of Australia. Sydney, 16 June 2012 acknowledged that APA

Support helps individuals to grow and develop, serves local communities that benefit directly from their skills and improves the capacity of the nation’s workforce. These are important ingredients for a strong economy and national prosperity and the APA’s work is greatly valued. Beyond its core purpose, the work of APA enriches our multicultural society and strengthens the people-to-people links that underpin the relationship between Australia and the African continent. The career success enjoyed by people in this room is testament to the important contribution that African Australians have made to shape the modern, vibrant nation that we all enjoy today”.

Anne Nalder of Small Business Association of Australia has acknowledged:

This is the only gathering of its kind of African Professionals in Australia that we are aware of. There are very limited events like this that are specifically curated for professionals of African descent. This conference is devoted entirely to promoting career excellence, leadership development and partnerships between African professionals within and beyond Australian borders while fostering diversity and inclusion at workplaces.
