The Small Business Summit 2017 will bring not only an assortment of experience of speakers together at the end of the month, but also serve as a forum for SMEs to express concerns and real opinions on what really impacts small business on the frontline.
A diverse array of SMEs will be represented at the Summit, to be held May 30-31 at Southern Cross University’s Gold Coast campus, including b02 Corporate Essentials.
Since 2006, b02 Corporate Essentials have been producing business taxation publications, workplace guides, templates, policy and procedure manuals with a belief that compliance should be affordable to everyone.
Leigh Bernhardt Industrial Relations Specialist and bO2 Corporate Consultant said that b02’s vast experience, having worked with thousands of their members, has reinforced that each business is unique; and that while taxation, financial and employment requirements change, their commitment to creating essential business resources remains paramount.
“Our business at its core is about providing accessible, up-to-date and intelligent resources that can have significant impacts on the health of business,” said Mr Bernhardt
“Understanding business compliance and legislative requirements can often be an overwhelming and an arduous undertaking, which is why we are committed to creating resources that clarify the complexities around business compliance no matter what industry you are in.”
Mr Bernhardt said that we must have policies that deliver jobs, productivity and growth to the benefit of employers, employees, their families and the community and this is underpinned by a simplified tax system.
“Small business accounting and workplace compliance can quickly become complex, particularly when managed in-house. Our tax system should provide incentives for people to join the workforce and for small businesses to invest.”
“Not all small businesses fit into the same legal box. Every structure, whether it’s a sole trader, partnership, a Trust or company, has different considerations with respect to liabilities and taxes.”
Mr Bernhardt went on to say that the Australian tax system is far too complicated for many SME’s, creating escalating and unnecessary costs for small businesses, many of which need to employ accounting, bookkeeping, WHS and HR/IR specialists.
“Creating and managing your own compliance resources is overwhelming, not knowing where to start, creating all the documents and keeping up with the changes in Workplace, Taxation and WHS legislation and codes of practice.
“As it stands the current system harms productivity and competitiveness. We are all highly aware that in order to improve the state of government finances we must have tax reform and lower taxes to encourage economic activity.”
Businesses like b02 Corporate Essentials will bring dimension and depth to the Workshops at the two-day Summit and said Small Business Association of Australia CEO/Founder Anne Nalder, will form a critical part of the development and drafting of the Small Business Charter of Australia.
“b02 have a wealth of real-world, ‘coal face’ experience, particularly when it comes to our tax and legal systems and what that means for small business,” said Mrs Nalder.
“The Summit is a true forum for SMEs to come together, to express their knowledge of issues, relay their experiences and provide their ideas for solutions on a wide array of topics that impact on the heart of Australia’s economy.”
