It was announced in October 2021 that the Small Business Association of Australia NSW/ACT Branch would open in order to provide more individualised help to small businesses in these states. Our devoted team is here to assist you and provide your company with the opportunity to grow with the aid of industry experts, government authorities, and other relevant organisations, amongst other resources.
Meet the Team:
Jonathan Alt is the Managing Director of Daris Group Pty Ltd, a boutique forensic services firm. Daris Group offers investigative services, forensic accounting, fraud risk, and security services, as well as customised training in all of these areas.
Jonathan has significant consulting expertise advising government, corporate, and small business clients on a wide variety of complex, sensitive, and diversified forensic matters. He also consults with a number of prominent law firms and has provided evidence as an expert witness in a variety of matters. His experience commenced in law enforcement, before transitioning into consulting where he has built on that background to ensure the best outcomes for clients.
Jonathan holds an MBA, a master’s degree in fraud and financial crime, a bachelor’s degree in investigations, as well as a variety of diplomas ranging from health and safety to business operations.
Jonathan knows the issues that small businesses are confronted with and is passionate about assisting the sector. He also contributes to a number of foundations and fundraisers, both directly and through Daris Group. Jonathan has aided efforts such as mental health support for first responders and domestic violence victims by providing jobs, consulting services, and other assistance.
Dr Anna Kurtovic
Dr Anna Kurtovic is a certified fraud examiner with a PhD in accounting, and qualifications in advanced investigation and interviewing techniques. Anna has led forensic departments for large financial institutions and worked as a Partner in a mid-tier professional accounting services firm.
Anna was key in designing the University of Wollongong’s first Master of Forensic Accounting degree. Anna taught postgraduate financial investigation skills to domestic and international students, including members of law enforcement, the private sector, and government. Anna was a lecturer at the University of Wollongong and also lectured at the university’s Centre for Transnational Crime Prevention.
Anna has direct knowledge of how fraud may occur in any firm. She has worked as an external forensic accountant for the public sector and businesses ranging from small to medium-sized organisations to large multinational corporations.
Before joining Daris Group, Anna founded a boutique consulting firm, Integrity Forensic Accountants and Fraud Investigators, which provided forensic accounting and fraud investigation services. She is committed to advocating for small businesses and equipping them with the tools and knowledge they need to thrive.
What Does This Mean?
SBAA will be able to organise more in-person Networking Nights and Events in 2022, as COVID-19 Restriction’s ease across Australia. With the foundation of the SBAA NSW/ACT Branch, our members will be able to attend these events without the burden of border crossing and possible quarantining.
Now is the perfect time to join the Small Business Association of Australia, given the exciting changes taking place in NSW/ACT and the addition of a fresh new team to support you in reaching your small business goals. A difficult time has been had by business owners in 2021. In order to succeed in 2022, join the SBAA for assistance and direction.
